World Prematurity Day 2017

World Prematurity Day is on 17th November 2017. Every year, an estimated 15 million babies are born preterm, which is defined as babies born alive before 37 weeks of pregnancy are completed. This is more than one in 10 babies – and these numbers are rising.

The annual event, which takes place across the world, brings people together to raise awareness of the global problem of preterm birth, which is the leading cause of death globally in children under the age of five.

This year we will continue to mark World Prematurity Day with our campaign for better mental health support for parents of premature and sick babies and publishing our mental health report.

We have also been busy selling our prematurity day milestone cards and on Thursday 17th November everyone who has one who has one will be able to publish a picture of their child with it to our website.
